five domains of quality control

These appear to have arisen from a revamp of the CQC (Care Quality Commission) inspection frameworks in 2015.

The five domains into which the CQC channels its inspection of quality are as follows :

  1. Safety

  2. Effectiveness

  3. Caring

  4. Responsiveness

  5. Leadership

Ben Pearson’s blog on an NHS website describes a 7x5=35 matrix to cross-breed these 5 domains against the 7 ‘pillars’ - not my preferred term - of clinical governance.
